My initial thoughts on the above: I've never seen the original movie of The Crow all the way through, but I can imagine it being something of a travesty to hardcore fans that it may be getting remade. I am interested to see what Cave could do with it, though.
As for Bunny Munro, as someone who liked the book but didn't LOVE it, I would actually really like to see a film of it, since seeing it in another medium may help me come to love the story more. (Ignore the huge sentence.)
My thoughts on the magazine: AWESOME. But if that's a recent picture (I don't think so), he's been subjected to the Photoshopped Hairline Treatment again.
A friend of mine (hi, Lori!) sent me a package a few years ago with this Cave comic taped to it. I totally forgot that I hadn't shared it with you all. I love it. :D
The top ripped off, but obviously the first frame would say, "When I was 12 years old..." This was from a feature in some magazine (SPIN, possibly) called "Real Life Rock Tales." Artists tell their tale, and someone draws it up as a comic. So these ARE Nick's own words, accompanied by artwork from Bryan Talbot. Enjoy! I find it highly amusing, and the frame with Nick and Deanna hiding behind the tree at the church cracks me up for some reason.
What songs would you NOT want your mum/mom to hear?
Think of the songs, from Boys Next Door, Birthday Party, Bad Seeds, Grinderman, etc., that would shock your mother and make her run for the nearest church. The dirtiest, slimiest, sexiest, most grittiest and irrefutably nastiest Cave songs you can think of.
So far, I've thought of:
"Black Betty" (the very energetic rawness of this would scare her) "Hard On For Love" (cuz it's sexual and perverted) "Jangling Jack" ("too bloody and violent and LOUD!" she'd say) "John Finn's Wife" (just think about it.) "Loverman" (she would think, "this is dirty white noise!"} "No Pussy Blues" (because it has the word "pussy" in it) "O'Malley's Bar" "Say Goodbye to the Little Girl Tree" (again, think about it) "Stagger Lee" (we should all agree on this one)
Again, do let me know if you are interested in doing another birthday project for Mr. Cave. The response seemed fairly...non-existent, which is fine if you don't want to. I'd just like to know either way.
I have ideas about things to post, but for now, I'm going to share these.
Scan from Laura, the Great and Glorious. :D This is great because it's an article about The Boys Next Door. Laura, you are amazing. Thank you so much for letting me share this! HUUUUUGE scan, so click and enjoy!
