Gladiator Birthday Party?

Nick's birthday is coming up again, and after the smashing success of last year's fan project (may the 'stache rest in peace), I was wondering what the thoughts were for this year. Yes, we should do something else...or no, let's not overdo it?

I'm thinking if we DID do something, it should be something ridiculous and gladiator themed. Why? Because of this (and because Laura mentioned it):

I'd be more than happy to put something together again. I just wanted to know if you all thought it'd be too much of a good thing, what the interest really was, etc.

Let me know!

  1. OK, I'll bite. What did you do last year? And, more importantly, how can I help?

  3. 1) I have my grandpa's sword in the closet.

    2) I can and WILL make a papier mache gladiator helmet should you go forward with this plan.

    3) I can't imagine Nick would mind receiving a ridiculous collaborative gift every year. He'll know he's loved. By us weirdos.

    :D

  4. Oh god, ok, obviously Eric is going to be like, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo! NOT THE MUSTACHE!" but hey, this year...gladiators? It'd be the usual...dress/photoshop self as gladiator with birthday wishes, write a stupid gladiator poem/story/etc., you know. Basically, a fan birthday card/book/what-have-you, with a really strange gladiator theme throughout. I think last year we started submissions mid-July, which worked out quite nicely. OMG, LAURA, whoa...yes to the gladiator helmet!!!! I want to make one too...dear god. I was thinking I would just 'shop stuff in if we decide to go through with it. Hmm...yeeeeeees. Is a viking helmet (the kind that stupid FLAAAVOR FLAAAAAV wears with the two horns) too far off the mark? Hmm, seems appropriate enough.

OH, the possibilities. I know NOTHING about gladiators and the gladiator lifestyle...may have to do some research to get ideas as to what the possible project could entail.
