Elbow Deep in Baby Crap

I realize I may post videos you've all seen before, but as I started this blog first and foremost as a way for me to keep track of things as *I* find them...enjoy. :)

Nick talking about being a new father (obviously awhile ago) from Face the Press:

And thanks to a lovely friend of mine on LiveJournal, this was pointed out to me. Henry Rollins talking about the greatness that is Grinderman:

Get Your Waterworks Runnin'

I can't stop listening to The Boys Next Door's "Shivers" lately. I just think the lyrics are absolutely FANTASTIC. I don't even want to know how many times I've listened to it this past week or so. It is so bloody fantastic. It's heart-wrenching and his voice is wonderful on it...guh.

Question time! Which N.C. songs get your waterworks a-runnin'?

I also must mention my favorite N.C. song, "(Are You) the One..." because...COME ON! LISTEN TO IT!

But yes..."Shivers" is aptly named. We've all seen these, but I can't help it:

Awww, awkward youth!

Gladiator 2

The scrapped Gladiator 2 script, penned by Mr. Cave, leaked online. *cough*

From metro.co.uk:
A copy of singer Nick Cave's rejected script for Gladiator 2 has been leaked onto the internet.

Cave was originally asked to write the sequel to Oscar-winning film by director Ridley Scott and star Russell Crowe.

The Guardian reports that the pair had hoped that Cave would be able to come up with a "creative solution" to deal with the fact that Crowe's character, Maximus, is killed off at the end of the film.

The musician's adaptation sees Maximus meddling with Roman gods in the afterlife. He is then reincarnated, spends his time defending early Christians, reunites with his son, and ultimately lives forever.

Maximus goes on to World War II, the Vietnam war and ends up working for the Pentagon.

Unsurprisingly, this version was rejected for being too over the top.

Scott told UGO.com: "Russell [Crowe] didn't want to let it go, obviously, because it worked very well."

"I mean, when I say 'worked very well', I don't refer to success. I mean, as a piece it works very well."

"Storytelling, he [Cave] works brilliantly. I think he enjoyed doing it, and I think it was one of those things that he thought 'Well, maybe there's a sequel where we can adjust the fantasy and bring him back from the dead'."

Death of Bunny Munro Covers

As most of you know, Nick's second novel, The Death of Bunny Munro, is scheduled to be released September 1st of this year. You can preorder here for only $16.32! And that's hardcover!

While checking Amazon today, I saw that a new cover (the first one with the drawn rabbit) had been uploaded. I'm not sure if they're both going to be used, or...? Anyway, I have to say, I like it much more than the other one, which I've also included here. The drawing just seems more Cave to me. What do you think?

POTM & Chickoose King

A friend of mine was sad. I said, "picture Nick Cave...in a chicken suit...wearing moose antlers." She laughed, but I made this just to solidify the greatness of the image:

Changed the photo of the moment a few days ago to this:

If you scanned this, let me know.

Also, an amusing photo I found during random internet searchings. I called this one "Redneck Fuckfest". If you are in this photo and are not Nick Cave, I apologize. But seriously...it's called antiperspirant/deodorant. He looks right amused by this lot.

My layout cuts this off. CLICK HERE to view the shitkicker on the right.

Coming soon to a bathtub near you...you've heard of Devil Ducks, Angel Ducks, Ozzy Ducks, and Duck Ducks, but what's better than bathing with a GRINDERDUCK?!

I amuse myself to no end.

Playlist #1 : The Pipage Mix

I am obsessed with songs in which Mr. Cave "belts it out," as it were, showcasing that, when he lets loose, he can really sing. You know, such as in "(Are You) The One..." when he sings the line, "oh, we will knooooow, won't weeeeeeeee", etc. I have been trying to make a list of songs that showcase his abilities. I figure this is best undertaken as a joint venture. It's not just his ballads, but examples of really lettin' the vocals fly, as far as Mr. Cave goes.

Here is my list so far. Please comment with further examples of Mr. Cave (aka Mr. Sinatra, Eat Yer Heart Out!) lettin' those notes fly free (I am so lame).

NOTE: Snicker at "pipage" all you want; I did.

Examples of Nick Cave's Pipage
"(Are You) The One I've Been Waiting For"
"And No More Shall We Part"
"Bless His Ever Loving Heart" ("beauty lies exhausted in the streeeets")
"Foi Na Cruz" ("a little trickery and deceeeeit")
"He Wants You"
"People Ain't No Good"
"Straight to You" (the last verse is close enough, with "chariots of angels...")

I'm gonna end it there. Let me know if you can think of others. What's "belting out" to you may not be the same to me, but hey - I need help expanding this list! Rare songs, non-Bad Seeds stuff counts.
